Branch Associate (Harrisburg, PA)

The Branch Associate is responsible for fulfilling all needs of Your Plumbing Supply customers, including providing strong customer service at the counter/inside sales responsibilities. They are responsible for working cooperatively with the Branch manager and other team members to reach the branch operations and profit goals. This position will primarily analyze data and work in the accounting software. Primary tasks are purchasing and inventory analysis. This position may participate in receiving, warehousing, picking, and shipping activities and will assist customers in loading their trucks and making deliveries to customers as authorized and assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively service all needs of customers, including sales order processing, returns/defective material processing, product/transfer procurement, and providing technical informational and printed material.

  • Review/update all applicable reports and tasks – complete/follow up on tasks accurately and timely.

  • Handle all customers in a friendly,  professional manner, with diplomacy and tact.

  • Participate (as directed by the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager) in all activities related to the physical handling of inventory, including receiving, stocking, picking, and shipping.

  • Accurately process customers’ transactions such as orders, quotes, and returns.

  • Adhere to all company policies & procedures, while achieving company sales margins and quotes.

  • Participate in branch sales growth and operational initiatives as directed by Branch Manager.

  • Communicate regularly and timely with customers providing accurate information regarding the availability of in-stock items and procured non-stock items.

  • When requested, coordinate the prompt transfer of inventory from one branch to another and determine the transfer priority and arrange accordingly for shipping.

  • Participate in the preparation for and taking of branch audits and physical inventories.

  • Help ensure that counter, self-serve, warehouse, and delivery areas are kept clean, neat, and safe.

  • Give input to the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager in developing improved operational functions within the requirements of company policies and procedures.

  • Accurately load and unload trucks, to maintain inventory accuracy and a high level of customer care.

  • Inspect products for damage and/or defects and process return goods per vendors’ SOP.

  • If authorized to drive, safely deliver products to customers, obtain required signatures, collect COD monies, and unload material in the designated customer location.

  • Operate all company vehicles and equipment safely and properly, observing all traffic rules, signs, and bridge height/weight requirements.

  • Perform required equipment inspection, lock truck to secure loads, maintain updated paperwork, maintain security of keys, EZ pass transponder, & fuel card.

  • Participate in company-directed training and follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Help ensure the branch is operated ethically and maintain a positive reputation in the community.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1+ years of wholesale distribution experience preferred, selling and customer service experience in a wholesale or retail environment. Friendly customer service orientation required.

  • Plumbing, HVAC product knowledge obtained through sales, service, or education/training (required for Senior Branch Associate responsibilities).

  • Good keyboard input and look-up skills needed. ERP or Inventory experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to multi-task, manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Work is performed indoors in an office, self-service facility with a branch warehouse, and outside storage. Employee will be exposed to the elements when making deliveries or when handling product stored outside the building.

  • This position will be physical & requires the ability to stand for up to 8 hours, bend and lift up to 70 pounds of product with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a truck under 26,000 lb and operate a forklift.
